Falcons Split the Sand: Folsom Lake Beach Volleyball Battles Through Conference Play

Folsom Lake's beach volleyball team continues to show competitiveness and growth in conference play, battling through tight duals and earning a strong win in a busy stretch of matches.

The Falcons opened conference action on March 6 at San Joaquin Delta, where the day was defined by narrow margins. Folsom Lake's top pairs delivered in dominant fashion, as the No. 1 duo of A. Lutsiv and S. Vorster cruised to a straight-sets victory (21-7, 21-11), and the No. 2 team of G. Giordano and K. Hammer followed with a solid win (21-16, 21-14). Despite those strong performances, Delta claimed the remaining three courts, handing the Falcons a tight 3-2 loss.

Later that day, Folsom Lake faced American River in another nail-biter, but once again came up just short, falling 3-2 in a dual that could have swung either way.

The Falcons responded in impressive fashion on March 13, hosting Cosumnes River and delivering one of their most complete performances of the season in a 4-1 victory. Lutsiv and Vorster continued to lead the way at the No. 1 spot with a straight-set win, while Giordano and Hammer battled back after dropping the first set to secure a three-set comeback victory. The No. 3 pair of L. Quintanar and E. Triplett showcased resilience in their own three-set win, and E. Ayers and A. Pham dominated at the No. 4 position in straight sets. Folsom Lake controlled the dual from top to bottom, demonstrating depth and determination.

In their second match of the day against Solano, the Falcons once again found themselves in a tightly contested battle. Lutsiv and Vorster remained unbeaten on the day with another straight-set victory, and Quintanar and Triplett delivered a decisive win at the No. 3 spot. However, Solano edged out victories on the remaining courts, handing Folsom Lake a 3-2 loss.

Across the stretch, the Falcons have proven they can compete with anyone in the conference, consistently pushing matches to the brink. The top pairing of Lutsiv and Vorster has been a steady force, while key contributions from Giordano and Hammer, Quintanar and Triplett, and Ayers and Pham highlight the team's balance.

With multiple 3-2 decisions, Folsom Lake's record may not fully reflect how competitive they've been. As the season continues, the Falcons are poised to turn those close losses into wins and make a strong push in conference play.
