Bio
Bob Blankenship, a native of Placentia, Graduated and played baseball at El Dorado High School in Placenta, Ca.
Played at Cypress Community College for Scott Pickler. Bob received a baseball scholarship to Sacramento State University, playing from 87-89 for Coach John Smith finishing runner up at the college world World Series in ‘88 and west regionals in ‘89 and was drafted in the 21st round by the Cincinnati Reds of MLB’s First Year Player Draft. In 1990 he led the North West League in saves and was in the top 4 ERA leaders.
In 2017 his 1988 World Series team was Inducted into the Sacramento State Hall Fame. Following his baseball career he returned to Sacramento State University and earned his Bachelors degree in Social Sciences/Sociology.
Bob coached at Yuba College from 2020-2024 & has coached varsity baseball at Kennedy, Woodcreek and Del Campo High Schools.
For the last 28 years Bob has spent time coaching in travel organizations and conducting private pitching lessons.
Bob is retired from a 28 year Law Enforcement career and a resident Roseville with his wife Janice. His daughter CJ, ran track at UCSB and achieved an B.S. in Biology, and son Tyler, played baseball and graduated from The George Washington University, Tyler transferred to Sacramento State to play baseball this year and is working on his MBA.
