Bio

Rusty is entering his fifth year on the coaching staff at Folsom Lake College. During his time there, he has coached pitchers who have earned college scholarships at every level, from NAIA programs to NCAA Division I schools.

Rusty played his high school baseball at Monta Vista High School in Cupertino, California, where he was a three-year varsity player. He was selected in the 17th round of the MLB Draft by the St. Louis Cardinals but chose not to sign, instead attending the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, where he served as a starting pitcher during his freshman season. Determined to pursue a professional baseball career, Rusty transferred back to De Anza College in Cupertino. He was then drafted in the first round by the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Rusty went on to play five seasons in the Dodgers organization before being traded to the Oakland Athletics, where he completed the final two years of his professional playing career.

Following his playing days, Rusty spent approximately 20 years working in the Dominican Republic, developing pitching prospects at the professional level.

His coaching career includes nine years as Head Coach of El Dorado Senior American Legion Baseball, during which his teams won nine district championships. He also coached at Union Mine High School and El Dorado High School in Placerville, California. Rusty served as Head Coach at El Dorado High School for ten years, leading the program to six league championships. Prior to joining Folsom Lake College, he was the Head Coach at Pleasant Grove High School in Elk Grove, California, for three seasons.

Rusty currently resides in Rancho Murieta with his wife, Camille. They have two adult children: a daughter living in Fort Worth, Texas, and a son who resides in Placerville, California.
