Folsom Lake College Softball Sweeps Home Stand, Outscoring Opponents 17–6 Over Three Games
Folsom Lake College softball put together a dominant three-game home stretch, earning a 6-0 shutout over Santa Rosa Junior College before sweeping a doubleheader against Diablo Valley College by scores of 4-3 and 7-3. The Falcons combined timely hitting, aggressive base running and lockdown pitching to improve momentum on their home field.
Game 1: Falcons Blank Santa Rosa, 6-0
Behind a complete-game two-hitter from Kiley Shea, Folsom Lake opened the week with a statement victory. Shea struck out four and did not allow a walk in seven dominant innings.
The Falcons struck first in the opening frame when Melanie Stephens delivered a sacrifice fly to score Sarah Habkirk. The game remained tight until the sixth inning, when Folsom Lake erupted for five runs. RBI singles from Hailey Permenter and Danika Walker extended the lead before Marianna Prieto broke it open with a three-run double.
Habkirk paced the offense with two hits and two runs scored as Folsom Lake capitalized on Santa Rosa miscues to plate three unearned runs.
Game 2: Late-Inning Rally Lifts Falcons Past Diablo Valley, 4-3
In the opener of Saturday's doubleheader, Folsom Lake showed resilience.
After Diablo Valley pushed across three runs in the third inning to take a 3-2 lead, the Falcons answered late. In the sixth, Haylie Alkire tripled to tie the game, and Sophia Nielsen followed with a sacrifice fly to bring home the go-ahead run.
Alkire finished with an RBI and a run scored, while Nielsen added a hit and the decisive RBI. In the circle, Sarah Habkirk started before Shea entered in relief, tossing four no-hit innings with five strikeouts to secure the win.
The Falcons were aggressive on the basepaths, swiping multiple bags, including two from Brooklyn Denina, applying constant pressure that contributed to Diablo Valley's defensive errors.
Game 3: Offensive Explosion Secures Series Sweep, 7-3
The nightcap featured an offensive showcase as Folsom Lake pounded out 14 hits.
Diablo Valley jumped ahead 3-0 in the first inning, but Habkirk immediately shifted momentum with a solo home run to lead off the Falcons' half of the frame. Folsom Lake chipped away before breaking through with a three-run fourth inning. RBI hits from Denina and Permenter highlighted the rally.
Habkirk finished 3-for-4 with a home run, double, two runs scored and an RBI, while Denina added two hits and two runs scored. Sophia Nielsen contributed a triple and RBI, and Sarah Richards collected two doubles and two stolen bases.
Habkirk also went the distance in the circle, allowing three runs on seven hits while striking out four to close out the sweep.
Across the three games, Folsom Lake outscored its opponents 17-6, showcased depth in the lineup, and received stellar performances in the circle from Shea and Habkirk. With balanced production and strong defense, the Falcons continue to build momentum as conference play intensifies.
