Falcons Split Doubleheader Behind Permenter’s Power and Strong Team Effort

The Folsom Lake softball team showcased both dominance and resilience in a doubleheader split against Santa Rosa on March 28, highlighted by explosive offense in game one and a hard-fought battle in game two.

In the opener, the Falcons delivered one of their most complete performances of the season, rolling to an 8-2 victory behind a powerful lineup and steady pitching. Hailey Permenter led the charge in a huge way, launching two home runs and driving in four runs in a standout performance. Her early two-run blast set the tone, and she continued to produce all game long.

Folsom Lake's offense was firing on all cylinders, racking up 13 hits. Melanie Stephens came through with a clutch two-run double, while Brooklyn Denina and Aniya Cruz each added RBIs to keep the pressure on. Joey Jacobs reached base multiple times and scored twice, and Sophia Nielsen contributed with a two-hit effort as the Falcons consistently found ways to manufacture runs.

In the circle, Kiley Shea delivered a strong outing, going six innings and limiting Santa Rosa to just four hits. She kept the Falcons in control throughout, while Annalee Aguilar closed the door in the final inning to secure the win.

Game two presented a tougher challenge, but the Falcons continued to compete and showed grit. After falling behind early, Folsom Lake battled back in the fifth inning to tie the game. Permenter stayed hot at the plate with an RBI double, and Marianna Prieto followed with a run-scoring single to even things up.

Despite the late surge from Santa Rosa, the Falcons continued to put the ball in play and fight through adversity. Permenter, Stephens, Prieto, and Shelbie Smith all recorded hits, while the team remained aggressive and engaged throughout.

Across both games, Folsom Lake displayed its offensive depth, with timely hitting, power, and the ability to respond under pressure. The combination of Permenter's breakout performance and contributions throughout the lineup underscores a team that is capable of competing at a high level.

With performances like these, the Falcons continue to build momentum and confidence as they move forward in the season.
