Falcons Battle to the Finish in First-Round Playoff Series
The Folsom Lake Falcons may have seen their postseason run come to a close in the first round, but the two-game series against Hartnell showcased a resilient, competitive squad that never backed down and continued to battle until the final out.
In Game 1 on May 1, the Falcons faced a tough Hartnell lineup in an 8-1 contest. Despite the final score, Folsom Lake found positives at the plate, collecting five hits and breaking through in the third inning. Melanie Stephens sparked the offense with a strong performance, going 2-for-2 with a run scored, while Brooklyn Denina delivered the Falcons' lone RBI with a clutch single to get Folsom Lake on the board.
The Falcons showed discipline throughout the lineup and flashed defensive potential, while Marianna Prieto provided a steady inning of relief in the circle to close out the game.
Game 2 saw a much stronger offensive showing from Folsom Lake, as the Falcons tallied nine hits in an 8-3 battle. The highlight came in the fourth inning when the Falcons erupted for three runs, cutting into a six-run deficit and shifting momentum.
Marianna Prieto delivered the biggest swing of the game with a solo home run, while Shelbie Smith and Mariah Aguiling each drove in runs to keep the pressure on. Aguiling was outstanding at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3, while contributions were spread throughout the lineup with key hits from Sophia Nielsen, Sarah Habkirk, and Kaleigh Frazer.
