Folsom Lake Falcons Soar to States with Commanding Victory Over San Jose City College

The Folsom Lake Falcons punched their ticket to the State Championship Tournament, advancing to the Elite 8 in electrifying fashion by steamrolling San Jose City College 78-53 in a dominant performance at Percy Carr Gym on March 8.

From the opening tip-off, the Falcons imposed their will, blitzing the Jaguars with an astonishing 35-point first quarter. Their relentless defense and sharp shooting set the tone early, building a commanding 20-point lead after just ten minutes of play.

Lexi Peters led the offensive charge with a fiery 16-point performance, draining four three-pointers and setting the tempo for Folsom Lake. Forward Athena Brombacher controlled the paint with 14 points and 11 rebounds, securing a double-double and anchoring the Falcons' rebounding advantage. The depth of Folsom Lake was on full display, as Jasmine Clee added 12 points and 9 rebounds off the bench, providing key contributions throughout the game.

The Falcons' defensive pressure stifled San Jose's offensive rhythm, forcing 15 turnovers and holding the Jaguars to just 36.2% shooting from the field. San Jose's leading scorer, Synise Byrd, managed 15 points, but the rest of the team struggled to find a groove against the Falcons' suffocating defense.

After the explosive first quarter, Folsom Lake never looked back, maintaining their momentum through the middle quarters and coasting to victory. Their ability to control the boards, outrebounding San Jose 49-31, proved to be a crucial factor in their success.

With this decisive win, the Falcons (25-5) advance to the Elite 8 of the State Championship Tournament, where they will look to cap off their season with the ultimate prize. If their performance against San Jose is any indication, Folsom Lake is a force to be reckoned with.

"We're ready for this next challenge," said Peters. "We've worked all season for this moment, and we're not done yet."

The Falcons' quest for a championship continues, and with the way they dominated in San Jose, they have made one thing clear: they are flying high and hungry for more.
