Falcons Finish Strong, Turn Focus to Big 8 Tournament
Folsom Lake College earned a convincing 2–0 victory over Cosumnes River on Tuesday afternoon, controlling the match from start to finish to secure another key Big 8 Conference Tournament win and advance deeper into postseason play.
The Falcons wasted little time establishing their rhythm, scoring twice in the first half behind sharp ball movement and steady possession. Madi Stroh opened the scoring in the 34th minute, finishing a well-placed pass from Rachael George to put Folsom Lake ahead 1–0. Just eight minutes later, Stroh turned playmaker, assisting Kylie Deome for the Falcons' second goal in the 42nd minute.
From there, Folsom Lake maintained control, dictating tempo and limiting Cosumnes River's chances. The defense, anchored by Hailey Yates in goal, held firm throughout the afternoon. Yates recorded two saves to earn the shutout as the Falcons' back line kept the Hawks off the scoreboard.
While both teams settled into a slower pace after halftime, Folsom Lake continued to manage the match effectively, keeping possession and closing out a composed team performance. The victory not only highlighted the Falcons' balanced attack and defensive discipline, but also propelled them forward in the Big 8 Conference Tournament.
