Falcons Split Road Series, Sweep Diablo Valley After Tough Loss to Delta

The Folsom Lake College volleyball team bounced back from a tough road loss at San Joaquin Delta with a dominant three-set sweep over Diablo Valley College to close out the week of October 24. The Falcons' win improved their overall record to 8–17 and 2–9 in Big 8 Conference play, showing resilience and strong performances from multiple key players.


Delta Controls Match, Falcons Struggle to Find Rhythm

In their October 22 matchup at San Joaquin Delta, the Falcons were outmatched by a powerful Mustangs squad that swept the contest 25–10, 25–6, 25–15. Despite the loss, several Folsom Lake players had solid individual efforts.

Erin Ayers led the Falcons' attack with five kills and a .176 hitting percentage, showing consistency against Delta's strong defense. Ella Triplett matched her with five kills, and Jadyn Alexander added two more while hitting an efficient .182.
Setter Lola Quintanar kept the offense moving with 15 assists and contributed a kill and a dig, while Ava Pham anchored the defense with 10 digs and added a service ace.

Although Delta controlled the tempo from start to finish, the match gave the Falcons a chance to regroup and refocus heading into their next contest.


Falcons Rebound with Sweep Over Diablo Valley

Just two nights later, the Falcons responded in impressive fashion, sweeping Diablo Valley 25–23, 25–12, 25–18 on the road in Pleasant Hill. Folsom Lake controlled the match behind a balanced offense and aggressive serving, finishing with 11 service aces and a .142 team hitting percentage.

Erin Ayers once again led the way offensively, posting 10 kills, 11 total points, and a .192 hitting percentage, while also contributing at the net with a solo block. Mikayla MacPhail added six kills and a strong .385 hitting clip, and Asia Pangelinan chipped in four kills and a service ace.
Setter Lola Quintanar orchestrated the offense masterfully, tallying 22 assists, 13 digs, three service aces, and one block assist, earning one of her best all-around stat lines of the season.
Defensively, Ava Pham was everywhere, racking up 16 digs and firing off four service aces, while Gianna Giordano added three kills and six digs to round out the team effort.


Coach's Perspective

Despite a challenging season in a competitive Big 8 Conference, the Falcons showed grit and determination throughout the week. Their ability to shake off the Delta loss and deliver a decisive win against Diablo Valley reflects their continued growth and chemistry.

The Falcons return home next week looking to build on their momentum and close the season strong, with standout play from veterans like Ayers, Quintanar, and Pham leading the charge.
